Borussia Oberbachem vs. Rock City Rovers

Borussia Oberbachem  6 - 1  Rock City Rovers

Clear skies welcomed the 1126 spectators who had made their way to Borussiapark. Oberbachem decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Milewski - Gottifredi, Naujokat, Geyer - Zehenter, Veres, Nilsson, van de Griend, Herzog - Karassavidis, Dederichs.

Rockers decided to use a 4-3-3 set up. They fielded: Santasus - Válido, Eijkenaar, Ngoyi, Cheyne - Callow, Gruber, Ismail - Adolfsson, Meyers, Jenek.

Today, Rockers's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. A foul after 2 minutes resulted in a free kick. Heiko Naujokat cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 to 0. Sleiman Ismail of Rockers was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. In the 23rd minute of the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Calvin van de Griend dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Oberbachem. Rockers made it 2-1 as Ted Eijkenaar knocked the corner kick to Uuka Ngoyi who whipped in a cross to the far post. Cristoph Dederichs hit the ball perfectly in the 30th minute to score for Oberbachem with a fab long shot. 3 - 1. Oberbachem added another goal to their lead as Franz Joseph Geyer struck home the 4 - 1 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. Halftime score was 4 - 1. Oberbachem, bringing their ball possession to 84 percent, dominated the battle.

Calvin van de Griend dispatched a majestic long shot in the 49th minute, but missed the goal by a few metres. Jan-Philip Zehenter gave Oberbachem supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 1 after 59 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. After this, Oberbachem lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Oberbachem put themselves up 6 - 1 when Calvin van de Griend broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. After 73 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Cristoph Dederichs might have resulted in another goal for Oberbachem. However, Carles Santasus made a spectacular save. After an industrious effort down the middle, Aristofanis Karassavidis could have closed the game off in the 77th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Oberbachem, bringing their ball possession to 85 percent, dominated the battle.

Most important Oberbachem player was Jan-Philip Zehenter. On the other hand, Franz Joseph Geyer's play was disheartening. Most important Rockers player was Ted Eijkenaar. However, Waldemar Jenek made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 6 - 1.
